Hi! So it’s been a while since I’ve posted. With my return, I wanted to post about some of the reasons why I wanted to start a blog and you should too! I wrote five ways to get motivated as to why starting a blog can be so helpful and I really hope you all take at least one great piece of advice from this post!
Growing your network and personal brand
To me, I think growing your network is an awesome way to connect yourself with people who have similar niches and ideas to you. I follow many blogs that are similar to content that I create, like lifestyle posts, blogs for millennial women, and people that are fresh out of college like I am. It helps you learn about what kind of place other people are at in their life and gives advice about dealing with certain things.
A personal brand shows your readers who you are and it can actually be exciting to have a brand outside of your day to day life. You may be in a work position that you feel like you can’t express yourself the way you’d like, so grab a little corner of the Internet and create a space that is dedicated to your fascinating ideas!
Helping people with your ideas
There is someone out there that NEEDS your words and thoughts. You probably won’t think that at first, but once you have your personal brand up and going, you’ll know who you want to focus on by your target audience.
I can’t remember the last time I purchased a magazine just for the pure enjoyment of reading the articles. Why spend money on something that I can just find online? These days, I rely on Pinterest or LinkedIn for topics that are relevant to me and what interests me the most.
Crafting a side hustle outside of the ‘9-5’ work week
This one is HUGE for me! When I started this blog, it was just a hobby because I knew I wanted to continue writing after graduating. I started working soon after and found that I needed something bigger outside of working 40 hours per week. For me, blogging is a way to engage in content that I love to engage with at the end of the day.
If you’re like me who loves to write and be in a community of people that share the same passion with you, then don’t be afraid to start a side project of running a blog!
Paying off debt or having an additional source of income
I know I said that #3 was huge for me, but this is an IMMENSE reason on why you should start a blog. I mean, who doesn’t want to earn a little more cash with their side hustle?! It can help to pay off student loans, save up money to buy your dream home, or pay for that vacation that you desperately need.
There a people that do this for a living and earn a FULL TIME INCOME with a job they love, and I think that is INCREDIBLE!
Self development and learning from others
Last but certainly not the least, you should start a blog even if you think it you won’t be that good at it. But who cares?! There is no right or wrong way to control the way YOU want to run your blog! Your space on the Internet is yours to put your content and thoughts out there. Either way, you are helping someone with your words, or learning from someone else about their opinion or experience.
So what are you waiting for? Grab some pen and paper if that helps you and write out your next project!
